On behalf of my mum, she passed away on September 17th 2019. Sadly the cancer got the better of her as she fought so so hard. She passed away in the early hours of the morning with family around her. Mum wanted to be cremated as per her wishes. I (Kerri Dern) daughter will try to keep her website up to date as best I can.
PLEASE NOTE: Firstly a huge thank you to everyone who has contacted me, with wonderful heartfelt get well messages, over the past eight years. After being on a Clinical Trial for my Melanoma for two 1/2 years, the GOOD NEWS was as at 17 April 2015, scans show I was tumour free, & went off the trial. I looked forward to having 3 monthly CT follow up scans, but after my a visit (February 2016), we were looking at 6 monthly scans. It looks like as of December 2017, I have come out of remission, after 3 good years. I have developed a mutation, & it is classed a new primary tumour, so it is back to square one. So I am now back on the trial, but now the drug is on the PBS I am able to have my treatment in Dubbo. Update, I am not responding to this treatment, & a new unknown drug is the only option. This trial has also proven to be ineffective, & I have developed a mass at the back of my abdomen, & unsure at this stage if it can be treated with radiation. I am now back home in Queensland being looked after at the Sunshine Coast university hospital. Everyone at the Crown Princess Mary Cancer Center at Westmead Hospital, in Sydney, are a truly inspirational team, and I thank each and everyone one of them.
ANGEL FLIGHT. An extraordinary group of pilots (Patrick, Margaret, Peter, Nick, Oleg, James, Peter and of course Darryl at Bankstown in Sydney, earth angels, Sevelay, Tony, Ken, Jim, Stephen, Maz, Elizabeth, Michael, Penny and Rebecca, and administrators, Karen, Nicky and Kylie, who are worth their weight in gold. I used this service, as I could not continue paying the cost of commercial flights from Dubbo. Anyone who is ill, needs specialist treatments of even just appointments in the cities, and who live in remote areas of the country, please don't hesitate to contact them. The more people who use the service the better, as the Pilots jump at the chance to add more flying hours. I would only have a short drive into Warren to catch the plane, my earth angel picks me up at Bankstown and drives me to the Westmead Hospital, and then the same for the return run home. When you are ill, you have enough to worry about, without financial worries on top of everything you are going through. If you wish to donate to a worthwhile charity, Angel Flight is very well deserving.
*************************************************************************************In memory of my wonderful parents, Dave ROSE (a victim of James HARDIE Industries' "Evil Dust", as described in 1892) and Lorraine Shirley (BALL).
What began as curiosity about relatives often spoken about by my parents, grandparents and parent's-in-law, has expanded into the research that has grown to what it is today. So, in the bi-centennial year 1988 was when I began my family history research. My paternal research should really be of the BARNETT family, not the ROSE'S. My great great grandfather Henry BARNETT died in March 1854, when his wife Johanna (nee GOGGINS) was 3 months pregnant with her son Henry (my great grandfather). She married Thomas Nelson ROSE in May the same year and young Henry was subsequently raised as the son of Thomas & Johanna, and named Henry Barnett ROSE. At this stage, we know nothing at all of the original Henry BARNETT'S origins, & have done all research available.
The Family History of my maternal grandparents Herbert Leslie BALL and Florence Melba WARD, has also been researched, as well as the families of both of my parent's-in-law, George and Betty DERN (nee PHILLIPS), also the families of my darling late daughter-in-law Jacki & wonderful to be late son-in-law Kevin John SAMUELS.
My family history research has expanded over the years, and has included the publication of two CD's of cemetery indexes, one for Queensland and the other for New South Wales, both aptly named DERN Index, as well as a Pioneer Register on the Outback New South Wales, as well as helping other researchers with their family history.
Also in the works was a publication on the residents of the town of Blackall, my husbands home town. So included on the site are a lot of folk from that area, even though they are only connected very remotely, but still obviously connected through various marriages. With both my children well and truly grown and living their own lives, as you can see, my family history research is my sanity. Please don't hesitate to contact me with any queries, add any new information or advise me of any errors in my research. And, please do feel free to sign my guest book.
Any guests I have given invitations to, who wish to copy any of my research for their own sites, would you mind asking for my permission. My only stipulation is that none of my research or photos is to go on to Ancestry. Remember to scroll down, on each persons file, to view sources and notes.
Over the years I have been in touch with many 'relies' and have been able to help them by adding new information for their research from my own resources & various online sites, and who have subsequently passed on their updated research, a huge thank you.
